Origin & History

St. Ann’s Convent School, Pathapatnam, is a co-educational Roman Catholic institution established in the year 1974 and is administered by the sisters of St. Ann, Northern Province, Visakhapatnam.

 

The Society of the sisters of St. Ann laid its foundation in Switzerland in the year 1909, realising the need of nursing the sick. Feeling the need for the missionaries in India, with a sense of dedication, the seed of the society was sown in the soil of India in the year 1927. Later finding that education was one of the crying needs of the hour the society also took upon the task of education.

 

The primary aim of this school is to give an all round formation to its pupils based upon the principles of Roman Catholic Christian faith. This institution is primarily meant to administer the school according to the rights guaranteed under article 30(1) of the constitution of India.

 

The school is permanently affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE), New Delhi, for classes Nursery to X standard with affiliation number AP 034. The students are prepared for the I.C.S.E. class – X, Examination under this board. In the school curriculum English is the first language, the second language is Telugu or Odia to be taught from LKG and the third language Hindi is followed from classes I to VII.

School Timings

The working day is divided into two sessions. The morning session is from 8.30 am to 12.10 pm and the afternoon session is from 12.40 pm to 3.40 pm. On Saturday the school timing is from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm. Every day the school session starts with morning assembly. The school ends with school anthem followed by National Anthem.

On all the school days and for the school functions the students should wear school uniform.

Holidays

The school remains closed on all the National and Public holidays. Apart from this, holidays are given for Dasara, Christmas, Pongal and Summer.
